Food Label Identity Regulations & Standards
Food label identity regulations are set fourth by The Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets and regulated by Consumer Protection Sections within the agency. There are three primary requirements for food identity regulations when it comes to product identity, they are as follows:
This must appear on the main panel of any and all labels.
1.) It must display the name as required by State or Federal regulation such as a standard of identity or, in the absence of this;
2.) The common or generic name
3.) The term cannot be misleading or deceptive.
In some cases , the food label identity is not required. If the commodity is easily recognizable through the wrapper. Meat and poultry labels must always state identity.
